Mile High CrossFit is hosting a King and Queen of the Gym style CrossFit competition on Sunday January 22, 2012.  This will be a fun new style of CrossFit events which allows you to not only meet new people but possibly workout with them.  Talk about the unknown and unknowable, you may not even know the partner you’re working with!

Highlights:

Date - January 22, 2012
Time - 9:00AM til 3:30PM TIME UPDATE: Check in from 8:00 - 8:30, Intro at 8:30, first WOD at 9:00
Events - 4 WODs announced Friday January 20
Category - Male and Female RX divisions
Registration - http://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1048472

The format will be:

-       4 WODs performed over the tentative time period of 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.  Awards around 4:00pm

-       You sign up as an individual and will be randomly paired with a partner at the event

-       You and your partner will perform WOD1 and your team’s score will be carried on as each team member’s individual score

-       You will be randomly assigned a new partner for WOD2 (3 and 4 as well) and as before your teams score will become each individual’s separate score.

-       Scoring for final placement will be similar to the Games Open format. If you place first in an event you get 1 point. Individual with the lowest score wins the crown! So if you and your partner take second place on the first event you will each have a score of 2. Then you and your next partner take third place on the second event, your total score would be 5 points after the first 2 events.

-       Depending on the number of participants, we will plan on ranking all participants for the last event, WOD 4. So the top half of the Men (and Women) will be paired only with others in the top half which will make for a very exciting WOD 4!

-       So the person who not only is the most fit but also the best partner will emerge at the end of the day to take the Crown of King/Queen of the Gym.

-       Prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 King and Queen finishers of the event.

Some Rules/Regulations, etc

-       We need an even number of Males and Females to run this event. So registration will close once we cap at 40 people (tentative caps are 20 men, 20 women but we may have to adjust that depending on participation) total but we will be taking Waitlist names to switch out anyone who drops out.

-       There are some exercises and weight requirements below that will give you an idea of the types of CrossFit moves you should be able to perform. Please note that there will be no modifications for WODs during the event so review the list below and ensure you can meet the minimum requirements at full Range of Motion. This is a sample list of CrossFit exercises, not all of the moves will appear in the WODs.

-       Yes I know this is yet another event without Muscle Ups or HSPU, but this is our first competition and with this new format style we wanted to pick standards achievable by most CrossFitters.  In the future we will look to offer modified divisions plus more skilled movements to the RX division.

-       Depending on the volunteer response, we may ask that participants help in judging events. In any case, there will be a ‘Head’ judge watching over the event to ensure everyone is meeting the standards.
